Wondering what’s next for your palate or fun? From now until Tuesday, January 22, there are several cool Houston food events! Here are just a few for you to mark on your calendars:

For one, check out the “Citrus Fest” at Central Market – it is already happening, now until next Tuesday. You’ll see a bunch of citrus fruits and citrus-themed foods. A few examples? Margarita pound cake, cold-pressed citrus juices, orange honey habanero salmon… and much more. And, there are a couple of main events during the two-week long festival, too! Check out the Citrus Festival Stroll on Thursday, the 17th, and A Tartful Afternoon Tea Party this weekend on the 19th.

If you’re ready for some fun food events tonight, head on over to Kenny & Ziggy’s New York Delicatessen Restaurant for Hot Pastrami Day. This sandwich won’t leave you feeling hungry. Filled with two layers of their house pastrami, two layers of turkey pastrami, stacked between double-baked Rye bread. It is served with Russian dressing, red peppers, and coleslaw. Better yet, you can get this delicious concoction all day!

Wine and Dine

Tomorrow – Tuesday,  the 15th, food lovers can check out the Tasting Series at Third Coast. This one involves wine… sparkling wine. And, with it, award-winning wine professional David Cook is teaching a course. But, not to worry, you’ll still get some great food in your belly from executive chef Jon Buchanan. Get your tickets now!

Wednesday, January 16th is the day to be at Shake Shack Montrose. That day is Donation Day, benefiting Southern Smoke. When you order, simply mention Southern Smoke or Underbelly Hospitality and a donation of 25% goes to them.

Want to learn how to make your own drinks? Go to the Mix and Mingle class at Poitin on Thursday, January 17th. Beverage director Sarah Cuneo leads the class, teaching you how to make unique drinks. Prepare for cocktails, a swag bag, and snacks at the bar. Tickets are on sale now!

Weekend Fun

Friday, January 18th, you can experience chicken of the land… and the sea. Peli Peli Kitchen is trying out its new menu at Kirby Ice House every Friday this month, so you can test out their peri peri wings, flat fries with jerky, and other new seasonings and dishes. The new chef Ryan Stewart is behind the changes, and taste buds are tingling in anticipation.

Then, Saturday, January 19th marks the tenth annual Yaga’s Chili Quest & Beer Fest. Come by for chili and beer tastings, a 5k fun run, market booths, and a Jackpot Margarita Contest. You can buy your tickets ahead of time. There is another cocktail making class to check out this weekend, too. Jose Hernandez will teach you at Hotel Alessandra Lucienne. This Saturday in particular focuses on gin. While you learn, you can also enjoy some fancy bar snacks!

So, whatever food and drink you’re interested in, you’re sure to find something up your alley this week. These fun Houston food events will keep you full and entertained this January! Welcome the new year with new food. Which events will you go to this week?
