Volkswagen, Jeep, and Cadillac fans make their dedication to the brand a bit more permanent on their skin with tattoos. Those marques appeared the most often on Instagram. This information found on an analysis of Instagram posts by Compare The Market. They found 5,507 Volkswagen tattoos on there. This represents thousands more than any other car brand tattoos. These people are truly in love with their cars.
Volkswagen Makes Some of the Most Accessible Enthusiast Cars
Instagram is, by its very nature, a self-selecting group to survey that tends to have a bent toward a bit younger audience than that of the dad/father down the street with a Bel-Air tattoo sleeve. Moreover, it’s not just that VW nerds that post what they ate for lunch, either. It’s well-known fact Volkswagen makes some of the most accessible enthusiast cars out there. The fandom spans both classic and modern cars. The owners love to modify them and these cars are nothing if not photogenic.
Jeep Second Most Popular Tattoo, Cadillac is the Third
Jeep is the second most tattooed marque on the platform, with 2,139 Jeeps showing up on Instagrammers’ bodies. The fans of more of an old-school American look—in tattoos and in cars—shouldn’t despair, though. Coming in third was Cadillac, with 1,775 tattoos on the platform.
Compare the Market also tallied up the most-tattooed cars on Instagram. Another classic hero took first place there: the Chevrolet Impala, which appeared in 823 tattoos on Instagram.
Then coming in second was the DMC DeLorean with 800 posts. It isn’t as common a car to own as a Volkswagen but is a symbol of nostalgia thanks to its starring role appearing in Back to the Future. The Chevrolet Corvette came in distant third with 180 posts.
The VW Beetle and Transporter were fourth and eighth on the model list. Although, there were a couple of what are considered surprises in the top ten. Reportedly, none of the cars listed in the top ten were the Jeep Wrangler. However, the Chevrolet Chevelle came in ninth.
The Compare the Market’s top 20 brands and top 10 cars here, which offers a few more surprises. There are 74 Lamborghini tattoos on Instagram? There are Bentley tattoos (127) and Holden ones (147). The fat Holden burnouts in body-ink form feel underrepresented here.
